Competition among young professionals

Competitions for the right to find employment with Gazprom’s subsidiary companies have been taking place under the auspices of Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg since 2007. The Successful Start open competition among young professionals is held annually in Novy Urengoy (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area).

Nowadays, in addition to Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg four more subsidiary companies act as competition institutors: Gazprom Dobycha Nadym, Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy, Gazprom Pererabotka, Severneftegazprom.

So far, during the whole time of the competition, over four and a half thousand people took part in it. As a result, 633 participants obtained certificates for employment with Gazprom’s subsidiaries.

Graduates of higher and intermediate professional education institutions, who finished their studies no later than one year ago, are invited to participate in the competition.

Requirements for participants are as follows:

• full-time course of study;
• Grade Point Average no lower than 4.

The open competition comprises three rounds.

The first round of the competition consists in reviewing the documents submitted by the participants and selecting the young professionals who have the occupation and qualification sought by the subsidiary companies. Media publications, diplomas and certificates of scientific conferences laureates are taken into account while evaluating the job seekers.

During the second round the participants are offered competition challenges – theoretical, practical and creative.

The third round is a selection interview with experts – leading specialists and heads of subsidiaries units.

The winners of the last round are awarded personal certificates granting employment in startup positions (vocational qualifications of the 4th grade and engineering positions, specialists without grades) at Gazprom’s subsidiaries to work on a traditional or rotating scheme.

The applications for the competition are submitted in a sealed envelope with the ‘Open competition for young specialists’ inscription once a public announcement is made.
