The parties considered matters related to the prospects of strategic cooperation in a wide range of activities. It was pointed out that there is a high level of trust and partnership between the companies.

Particular attention at the meeting was paid to Russian gas exports to China. Gazprom provides reliable supplies via the eastern route, i.e. the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, which are regularly in excess of the daily contractual obligations of the Company.

At the meeting, the parties signed a Supplementary Agreement to the Sales and Purchase Agreement for Russian gas to be supplied via the eastern route. In line with the request of the Chinese partners, the parties agreed upon additional supplies to be performed in December 2024. Thus, the daily exports of gas to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline will be brought to the maximum contractual level ahead of schedule (not in early 2025, as had been previously planned).

The construction works on the second, i.e. Far Eastern, route are proceeding on schedule.

It was noted at the meeting that the companies continue their successful collaboration in the area of personnel training, as well as in sci-tech and cultural projects. For instance, the 14th Gazprom and CNPC Arts Festival was held this year in China. Events of this kind stimulate intercultural dialogue, build confidence and strengthen friendship between nations.

Background

Gazprom's main partner in China is CNPC, a state-owned oil and gas company.

The 30-year Sales and Purchase Agreement for 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year to be supplied via the eastern route (Power of Siberia gas pipeline) is in force between Gazprom and CNPC. The ceremony marking the start of the first-ever pipeline supplies of Russian gas to China took place on December 2, 2019.

The long-term Sales and Purchase Agreement for natural gas to be supplied via the Far Eastern route was signed in February 2022. As soon as the project reaches its full capacity, the amount of Russian pipeline gas supplies to China is going to grow by 10 billion cubic meters, totaling 48 billion cubic meters per year.
