The commissioning ceremony for a number of new industrial and social facilities built by Gazprom in the Far East took place today via a conference call at the Eastern Economic Forum 2024.
Taking part in the event were Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Valery Limarenko, Governor of the Sakhalin Region, and Vasily Orlov, Governor of the Amur Region.
The newly opened Gazprom School Svobodny built by Gazprom in the Alexeevsky residential microdistrict of the town of Svobodny, Amur Region, was presented to the event participants. On September 2, the school opened its doors for the students; they are the children of the Amur Gas Processing Plant's employees. The school is equipped with cutting-edge equipment, as well as laboratories, workshops, a robodrome, language laboratories, a library, and a media library. It also has a stadium, gyms, sports grounds, and playing areas.
The Water Sports Center was opened in the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Sakhalin Region. The Center is among the largest water sports complexes in the Far East. The facility will make it possible to promote sports that have not been mastered before on Sakhalin Island, such as synchronized swimming, diving and water polo. The Center can serve as a training ground for professional teams of athletes and host national competitions.
Equipped with the latest water treatment systems, the Center comprises two swimming pools of 50 and 30 meters in length and bleachers for more than 1,000 people. The 50-meter swimming pool has a mobile floating partition for dividing the pool basin into two swimming pools of 25х25 meters in size each, as well as the “two floors” system for adjusting the pool depth so that young athletes and people with disabilities can exercise there. The 30-meter swimming pool, which is 6 meters deep, is equipped with springboards that range from 3 to 10 meters in height.
The Center also comprises universal gyms for choreography and gymnastics, a gym, and a medical physical rehabilitation center for athletes.
The facility was built with due consideration of the seismic conditions and climatic peculiarities of Sakhalin Island.
Gas supplies to a new municipal boiler house started in Blagoveshchensk, Amur Region. The boiler house is the first one in the city to use natural gas. It will replace as many as six coal-fired boiler houses, thus significantly improving the city's air quality. The new boiler house will provide reliable supplies of heat and hot water to residential buildings in the Severny microdistrict, a kindergarten, a school, and a number of medical facilities and educational entities.
For the purposes of gas supply and gas infrastructure expansion in Blagoveshchensk and gas supplies to the new boiler house, Gazprom has built and today launched a gas pipeline branch complete with the Blagoveshchensk gas distribution station (GDS), as well as an inter-settlement pipeline of more than 20 kilometers in length. The project was implemented under the 2021–2025 gas supply and gas infrastructure expansion program of the Amur Region. After intra-settlement networks are laid, thousands of households and dozens of enterprises will be connected to gas in Blagoveshchensk and the nearby village of Chigiri.
“For Gazprom, the implementation of the Eastern Gas Program is intrinsically linked to the critical objective of bringing social development to the regions where the Company operates. It means gas infrastructure expansion in the cities and rural areas of the Far East. It means better conditions for children to receive quality education and get involved in sports. Without any doubt, Gazprom will continue its work in this direction,” said Alexey Miller.
