Gazprom developing market of eco-friendly and affordable motor fuel
RELEASE
Release
A number of documents for further development of Russia's NGV market were signed today at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024.
Natural gas is the most cost-efficient and eco-friendly motor fuel. It is cheaper than gasoline or diesel fuel and causes minimal emissions.
Gazprom actively cooperates with Russian regions and domestic manufacturers in order to provide consumers with more opportunities for converting vehicles to natural gas.
Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Alexey Teksler, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, signed an Agreement on a wider use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel.
Gazprom will elaborate the construction options for new gas filling stations in the region. The Government of the Chelyabinsk Region will provide Gazprom with support as regards, inter alia, increasing the utilization of the existing infrastructure. The lists and timeframes of specific activities will be outlined in the respective Roadmap.
At present, eleven CNG filling stations of Gazprom are functioning in the Chelyabinsk Region.
Alexey Miller and Alexey Likhachev, Director General of State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, signed an Agreement of Cooperation.
The document envisages the implementation of a number of joint projects for the NGV industry. Inter alia, the parties plan to manufacture new-generation storage systems for compressed natural gas, which will be used for equipping mobile refuelers.
It is planned to create the storage systems with the use of carbon fiber produced by Rosatom. Such fiber is 1.5 times stronger and lighter than the materials that are traditionally used in the manufacturing of composite gas cylinders, such as, for instance, glass fiber. The use of the new storage systems will make it possible to increase the volume of compressed natural gas filled into the mobile refuelers for its further transportation.
Alexey Miller and Vadim Sorokin, President of GAZ Group, signed an Agreement of Cooperation with regard to the production and supply of natural gas-powered motor vehicles for the needs of Gazprom.
For instance, GAZ Group will develop new models of gas-fueled passenger and freight vehicles for Gazprom, which are expected to have a new high-tech design.
Alexey Miller and Dmitry Martianov, Director General of AMK Standard, signed an Agreement of Cooperation.
AMK Standard will master the production and supply of new models of domestic natural gas-powered road construction machines and special vehicles for the needs of Gazprom.
Road construction machines and special vehicles are among the most promising types of machinery that can be converted to natural gas. Today, gas-fueled bulldozers, loaders, excavators, truck cranes, and pipelaying cranes are in demand at the Gazprom Group's facilities.
