Gazprom’s team becomes leader in medal count at Third World Construction Championship

The corporate team of Gazprom achieved the best result at the Third World Construction Championship. The event took place at the EXPOFORUM in St. Petersburg on October 17–20.
Gazprom represented by 166 employees of about 30 leading subsidiaries and contracting organizations at competitions
A total of 166 employees of about 30 leading subsidiaries and contracting organizations represented Gazprom at the competitions. The corporate team became the leader in the medal count in the main league competitions, winning 32 medals (9 gold, 14 silver and 9 bronze) in 22 team and individual categories. The Company also took the most gold medals.
Competitions among the students of industry-specific universities and secondary education institutions were also held as part of the Championship. Gazprom's corporate team of student construction brigades won two gold and one bronze medals in the team categories of the Championship's student league.
Overall number of participants of competitions and guests of Championship totals about 14,000 people
This edition of the World Construction Championship was the first one to be held in St. Petersburg and became the biggest one in the history of the event. It brought together over 1,500 construction industry specialists from Russia and abroad. A total of about 14,000 participants and guests took part in the Championship.
Gazprom co-organized the event (the relevant activities were carried out through Gazprom Invest).
Background
The World Construction Championship is an annual event that combines competitions among professional industrial construction industry specialists with a business program and an exhibition.
The First World Construction Championship was held in Sochi in 2021, and the year 2022 saw the second edition of the event, which took place in Kazan. In 2022, Gazprom for the first time co-organized the event and took part in its competitions.
In 2023, the representatives of the Gazprom team won medals in the following categories.
Gold medals in:
- the team categories of Construction Project Management; Drivers and Operators of Road Construction Machines; Power Cables and Cable Fittings Electrical Installation; Surveying Engineer; Steel and Reinforced Concrete Structures Installation; and Start-Up & Commissioning Operations;
- the individual categories of Lighting Networks and Electrical Equipment Installation; Manual Electric Welder; and Process Design.
Silver medals in:
- the team categories of Construction Project Management; Building Information Modeling and Design; Instrumentation & Control Installation; Power Cables and Cable Fittings Electrical Installation; Lighting Networks and Electrical Equipment Installation; Secondary Switching Electrical Installation; Start-Up & Commissioning Operations; Drivers and Operators of Road Construction Machines; and BIM-Technologies Specialist;
- the individual categories of Electrical Design & Automation Systems Design; Construction Supervision; Occupational Safety; Best Ecologist, and Manual Electric Welder.
Bronze medals in:
- the team categories of Best Construction Site; Building Information Modeling and Design; Civil Works; Process Pipelines Installation; Steel and Reinforced Concrete Structures Installation; and Drivers and Operators of Road Construction Machines;
- the individual categories of Architectural and Civil Design; Best Ecologist; and Non-Destructive Testing.
