Residents of over 400 Russian localities to gain access to network gas as a result of work performed in 2023
RELEASE
Release
The Gazprom Board of Directors took note of the information about the progress of the programs for gas supply and gas infrastructure expansion in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and their synchronization with regional programs for converting housing and utilities, industries and other entities to gas, as well as the information about gas supply and extension of gas grid coverage in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Previously, this matter was addressed by the Gazprom Management Committee
It was highlighted that Gazprom continues its extensive efforts to implement the programs for gas supply and gas infrastructure expansion in 72 constituent entities of the Russian Federation for 2021–2025. Every year, pipeline gas reaches hundreds of the country's localities, primarily villages and rural settlements. The Company is responsible for building gas transmission and distribution facilities along the entire gas supply chain, up to the boundaries of the land plots of consumers.
As a result of the work performed in 2023, residents of more than 400 Russian localities will gain access to network gas. To that end, throughout this year, Gazprom ensures the construction of new gas pipeline branches and gas distribution stations (GDSs), as well as some 2,500 kilometers of inter-settlement gas pipelines.
For instance, the Company has put into operation a gas pipeline branch with the Pitkyaranta GDS in the Republic of Karelia, as well as a gas pipeline branch with GDS-29 and a connecting gas pipeline to the gas networks of the city of Omsk in the Omsk Region. These facilities are of great significance for the development of said regions. Thus, almost 2,500 households and social institutions of the Pitkyarantsky District were provided with access to grid gas in Karelia. In the Omsk Region, conditions required for providing gas were created for new consumers in Omsk and two neighboring districts: Azovsky and Omsky.
At present, Gazprom is preparing to put onstream a gas pipeline branch complete with the Almenevo GDS in the Kurgan Region, thus bringing the first-ever supplies of natural gas to the residents of the Almenevsky District.
In addition, Gazprom is looking into the extension of gas grid coverage in Krasnoyarsk. In October 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued an instruction to Gazprom, the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory to ensure that the extension of gas grid coverage in Krasnoyarsk is completed before 2028. The Company is performing its priority activities to fulfill this instruction.
The Board of Directors also reviewed the matter pertaining to the ongoing work of the Company aimed at additional gas grid expansion in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, namely the efforts for bringing pipeline gas to the boundaries of private households and boiler houses of medical facilities and educational entities at no cost to the consumers.
The implementation of this large-scale project began in 2021 in line with the instructions of Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation. The project provides Russian residents with the possibility of gas grid connection and significantly improves the living standards in cities and rural settlements.
The Company is actively implementing additional gas grid expansion activities in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. To this date, citizens have signed over 1 million contracts and about 834,100 (or 77 per cent) of them have been performed: gas pipelines have been laid to the boundaries of the relevant households. The collection of applications for gas connections in terms of free-of-charge additional gas grid expansion to cover medical facilities and educational institutions has been in progress since March 2023. The entities are actively using this opportunity: over 430 contracts have already been signed with them and almost a half of these contracts (or 47 per cent) has been performed.
The Management Committee was tasked with continuing the implementation of the programs for gas supply and gas infrastructure expansion in Russian regions, their synchronization with regional programs for converting housing and utilities, industries and other entities to gas, as well as gas supply and extension of gas grid coverage in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and additional gas grid expansion in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
