Integrated project for effective development of hydrocarbon reserves in Nadym-Pur-Taz region’s fields completed

RELEASE

A new complex for the processing and transportation of liquid hydrocarbons was put into operation near the Urengoyskoye oil, gas and condensate field in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area.

The complex includes a condensate stabilization unit for the fields of the Nadym-Pur-Taz region, the Urengoyskaya oil pumping station, the Urengoy – Pur-Pe oil and condensate pipeline stretching for about 125 kilometers (including backup strings), and a custody transfer point.

The creation of this complex is part of Gazprom’s systemic efforts towards the effective development of hydrocarbon reserves in the active fields of the Nadym-Pur-Taz region.

The complex will, inter alia, facilitate the planned increase of natural gas production from hard-to-reach Achimov formations in the Urengoyskoye field over the long term. This will be achieved via new capacities for the processing and transportation of gas condensate separated from the gas produced at the Urengoyskoye field. Gas condensate is a byproduct of natural gas production and a valuable raw material for the oil refining and petrochemical industries.

The processing of gas condensate from the Achimov formations of the Urengoyskoye field is now being performed via a new scheme.

The new facilities widely use state-of-the-art Russian equipment. These include rectification columns (for separating fractions of gas condensate), pumping units, automated process control systems, pipe and cable products, and power supply devices. The facilities are intended for stable operation in the severe natural and climatic conditions of the Extreme North and are equipped with all requisite systems of process and environmental safety.

Background

The operator of the condensate stabilization unit of the Nadym-Pur-Taz region, the Urengoyskaya oil pumping station, the Urengoy – Pur-Pe oil and condensate pipeline, and the custody transfer point is Gazprom Pererabotka (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom).

The light fractions extracted from gas condensate at the condensate stabilization unit of the Nadym-Pur-Taz region are subsequently sent for processing to the enterprises of Gazprom Pererabotka: the Urengoy Condensate Treatment Plant and the Chernomyrdin Surgut Condensate Stabilization Plant.
