Pursuant to the Addendum, two independent facilities – a water sports complex and a sports and health center with a universal gym – will be built instead of the previously planned multi-purpose sports and leisure center. Both facilities, as well as an ice arena, which is a part of the project, are already being designed. Additionally, Gazprom will build a comprehensive school and a kindergarten for the residents of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Once the construction is completed, all facilities that are designed for public use will be transferred into regional and municipal ownership.

Alexey Miller and Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg, signed a Program (Roadmap) for cooperation in the implementation of projects for social and economic development of St. Petersburg. The Program covers more than 60 projects that are planned to be implemented in St. Petersburg with participation of Gazprom in the medium and long term. The projects include construction and reconstruction of social & business and social & cultural facilities, development of sports infrastructure, NGV infrastructure, and gas transmission and distribution infrastructure, as well as urban improvement of St. Petersburg.

Pursuant to the document, it is planned to, inter alia, involve students of gas industry-specific universities and colleges in the activities carried out by the RSO student brigades at Gazprom's facilities.

In previous years, student brigades took part in a number of projects key to the development of the gas industry, such as the pre-development of the Zapolyarnoye field and the creation of new gas production centers in Yamal and Yakutia. In 2022, the students will work at Gazprom's facilities in the Arctic, Eastern Siberia and the northwestern part of Russia.

Background

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2022 is being held at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre from June 15 to 18. This year's main theme is “New Opportunities in a New World.”

Cooperation between Gazprom and the Sakhalin Region is strategic. Within the state-run Eastern Gas Program, the Company is developing a major gas production center on the shelf of Sakhalin Island.

Gazprom and the Government of the Sakhalin Region are bound by the agreements on cooperation and wider use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel, as well as the Accord on gas infrastructure expansion.

In September 2020, a Memorandum of Cooperation regarding the construction of a small-scale LNG plant by Gazprom in the region was signed.

In September 2020, the parties also signed the gas supply and gas infrastructure expansion program for 2021–2025.

Since 2007, Gazprom has been implementing a large-scale program for the comprehensive urban improvement of St. Petersburg with the aim of preserving the historical and cultural heritage of the city which can be considered an open-air museum in its entirety, while creating an advanced urban environment convenient and comfortable for the residents and guests of the city. The renovation works have been performed on over 80 streets, mini-gardens, embankments and squares, including the installation of more than 16,000 street lamps.

By early 2022, a total of 37 modern sports facilities, including sports centers with swimming pools and ice rinks, have been built in St. Petersburg under the Gazprom for Children program.

Gazprom provides financing for large-scale exhibition and restoration projects at the largest museum complexes.

At the Tsarskoe Selo State Museum, the restoration of interiors of the Lyons Hall and the restoration of the Palace Chapel of the Resurrection were completed and the restoration of the interiors of the Catherine Palace's Zubov Wing is going on with financing from Gazprom.

Since 2009, the Gazprom Group has been a permanent partner of the Peterhof State Museum Reserve in the restoration of the Chinese Palace in Oranienbaum; 13 out of 17 interiors of the Palace have been restored by now.

Russian Student Brigades is a National Youth Public Organization which offers students temporary employment, focuses on civic & patriotic education, and develops the creative and athletic potential of young people.
