Gazprom and NOVATEK to join efforts for sustainable development of Russian Arctic

Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Leonid Mikhelson, Chairman of the Management Board of NOVATEK, today signed an Agreement of Cooperation at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2022.
According to the document, the parties are interested in joining efforts to secure the sustainable development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. Namely, cooperation between the parties is envisaged in such spheres as environmental protection, preservation of biodiversity, environmental monitoring and standardization in the area of environmental safety, support for indigenous minorities of the North, as well as in the field of hydrogen energy development.
A Coordination Council will be established to implement the Agreement.
Background
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2022 is being held at the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Centre from June 15 to 18. This year's main theme is “New Opportunities in a New World.”
