Gas production and supplies: results for 11.5 months

RELEASE

According to preliminary data, Gazprom produced 394.1 billion cubic meters of gas from January 1 through December 15, 2022. This is a decrease of 19.6 per cent (or 96.3 billion cubic meters) versus the same period of last year.

The domestic demand for the Company's supplies from the gas transmission system (GTS) went down by 5.2 per cent (or by 12.5 billion cubic meters) over said period.

However, on December 1–9, against the background of cold temperatures, Gazprom's daily supplies of natural gas from the GTS to Russian consumers were record-high as compared to the supplies observed on the same dates in other years (the maximum daily volume of gas in the amount of 1,605.2 million cubic meters was supplied on December 7, 2022).

Gas exports to the countries beyond the FSU amounted to 97.8 billion cubic meters, which is 45.1 per cent (or 80.2 billion cubic meters) lower than the figure for the same period of 2021. Gazprom delivers gas in compliance with confirmed requests.

Gas exports to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline keep growing within the framework of the long-term bilateral contract between Gazprom and CNPC. The supplies are regularly in excess of the daily contractual volumes.

According to Gas Infrastructure Europe, as much as 8.8 billion cubic meters of gas – i.e. 12.6 per cent of the volume injected in preparation for the heating season – were withdrawn from Europe's UGS facilities as of December 13. What is more, the load on Europe's UGS facilities in the current autumn/winter period is expected to be greater than in previous years due to the changes that have occurred in the logistics and the sources of gas supply on the European market.

The gas withdrawal from Ukraine's UGS facilities also continues. Gas inventories in said storages were lagging behind last year's level by 13.6 per cent (or by 2.1 billion cubic meters) as of December 13. As much as 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas, i.e. roughly a fourth (26.5 per cent) of the gas injected during the summer period, are already withdrawn from the facilities.
