National technical committees to cooperate in LNG equipment and technology standardization

An Agreement of Cooperation among Technical Committees for Standardization was signed today at the 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.
The document was signed by Vitaly Markelov, Chairman of the Technical Committee for Standardization (TC 23) “Oil and Gas Industry,” Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Anton Shalayev, Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology, and authorized representatives of TC 245 “Pumps,” TC 259 “Pipe Fittings and Bellows,” TC 318 “Maritime Fleet,” TC 357 “Steel and Cast Iron Pipes and Cylinders,” TC 364 “Welding and Related Processes” and TC 439 “Automation Tools and Control Systems.”
The cooperation is aimed at implementing the emerging state-run Program for standardization of developing technologies and equipment in oil refining, petrochemistry, and natural gas processing and liquefaction.
The joint efforts of the seven technical committees will contribute to the development of progressive national and inter-state standards in the LNG production area. TC 23 “Oil and gas industry” will coordinate the process.
Background
The 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is being held as part of the Russian Energy Week International Forum.
Gazprom is the basic organization for the National Technical Committee for Standardization “Oil and Gas Industry.” The Committee develops Russian standards related to hydrocarbon production and processing equipment and technologies, as well as translates and harmonizes international standards for the domestic oil and gas industry.
