Gazprom and UEC sign long-term Cooperation Program

Vitaly Markelov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Alexander Artyukhov, Director General of United Engine Corporation (UEC), today signed at the 8^th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum a Cooperation Program to provide Gazprom with reliable domestic gas turbine equipment until 2030.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee.

The document specifies, inter alia, the future needs of Gazprom in terms of various types of gas turbine engines to be used in gas compressors and at gas turbine power plants. Provisions are also made for overhauling some of the utilized equipment and replacing outdated and worn-out engines. An emphasis is put on ensuring the reliability, technical efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the equipment required by Gazprom.

The Program pays particular attention to the development of state-of-the-art gas turbine units, including import-substituting ones, for the Company’s onshore and offshore projects, as well as to making equipment more eco-friendly. Specifically, it is planned to design and introduce low-emission combustion chambers for Gazprom’s most-used engines (16 MW and 25 MW engines), which will substantially reduce emissions into the atmosphere.

The document offers an opportunity for employing advanced service technologies, such as maintenance and repairs during the entire life cycles of engines, as well as remote diagnostics, monitoring, and equipment condition forecasting. In addition, UEC proposed another form of cooperation, with gas turbine engines to be leased during the repairs of core equipment, which may potentially reduce downtime.
