Swimming competition

The team of Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk took top honors in the adult competition. Gazprom Transgaz Moscow and Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg took the second and third place, respectively.

Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk was declared the winner in the children’s competition, followed by Gazprom Transgaz Moscow and Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta.

For the first time since the inception of the Games, contestants demonstrated the fitness standards under the national Ready for Labor and Defense (GTO) program, with Gazprom Transgaz Tchaikovsky emerging as the winner.

Background

The main goals of Gazprom's Spartakiada Games are to promote a healthy lifestyle, share experience in physical training and mass sports, and maintain sports traditions.

Participants in the Spartakiada Games include the employees of Gazprom’s subsidiaries and children attending sports clubs sponsored by the subsidiaries. Participation is prohibited for members of Russian national teams and those taking part in zonal competitions, official national, European and global championships and tournaments, and the Olympic Games.

In 2017, the contest involved some 3,000 athletes from 29 subsidiaries of Gazprom based in Russia and Belarus. Adults competed in six categories – volleyball, kettlebell lifting, track-and-field athletics, swimming, chess, and football – while children’s teams vied for prizes in the last four. A total of 180 medals was handed out, with 23 prizes in team sports and 157 in individual sports.
