Mizuho Bank, SMBC, and J.P. Morgan to provide EUR 1 billion credit facility to Gazprom

Gazprom, Japan's Mizuho Bank, Ltd. (Mizuho) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), and U.S.-based JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. (J.P. Morgan) signed a five-year EUR 1 billion Facility Agreement in Tokyo today.

The document was signed on behalf of Gazprom by Andrey Kruglov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, on behalf of Mizuho by Nobuhide Hayashi, Chairman, and Yasuhiko Hashimoto, Joint Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa, on behalf of SMBC by Yasuyuki Kawasaki, Deputy President, Head of International Banking Unit, and Kenichi Hosomi, Managing Executive Officer, Deputy Head of International Business Unit, and on behalf of JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. by Yan Tavrovsky, President of CB “J.P. Morgan Bank International” (LLC).

The signing of the Agreement marked another step in Gazprom's successful long-term cooperation with the aforementioned credit organizations.

Background

Mizuho Bank, Ltd. is a banking unit of Mizuho Financial Group, a leading financial services group in Japan. It has 553 offices around the world (including branches, representative offices, and subsidiaries), among them a subsidiary bank in Moscow. Since 1999, Mizuho Financial Group has actively contributed to many of Gazprom's financial operations, including deals aimed at securing corporate and project financing, as well as transactions with the Gazprom Group's Eurobonds in capital markets.

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation was created by a merger of The Sakura Bank, Limited and The Sumitomo Bank, Limited. It has over 500 offices in Japan and 18 international branches. Since 2000, the bank has been actively involved in Gazprom's deals aimed at securing corporate and project financing and has acted as a financial adviser to the Company.
