Gazprom and OMV stress need for new gas supply routes to Europe

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Manfred Leitner, Member of the Executive Board of OMV took place today within the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2015.
The parties exchanged their views on the current state of the European gas market and noted that the share of gas imports from Russia would continue to increase in the European gas mix. In this context, the need for new gas supply routes to European consumers was pointed out at the meeting.
In addition, the parties signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding between Gazprom and OMV regarding future long-term business projects. According to the Memorandum, the parties agreed to evaluate the prospects for OMV’s participation in the project for the development of blocks IV and V in the Achimov deposits of the Urengoy oil, gas and condensate field on the basis of a possible assets swap.
