“2014 is a remarkable year in the history of the Russian-Chinese partnership. In May 2014 Russia and China signed the world's greatest purchase and sale contract for the pipeline gas supply. September 1 saw a ceremonial welding of the first joint at the Power of Siberia gas transmission system.

Such achievements are the evidence of trust, mutual understanding and stability in the Russian-Chinese relations. It is very important that the business cooperation between Gazprom and CNPC is naturally complemented by cultural exchange initiatives. Our joint Arts Festival among talent groups is growing and expanding its boundaries. Every time it is a celebration of unity, friendship, vivid emotions and talent,” said Alexander Bespalov.

Background

While enhancing their relationship in the energy sector, Gazprom and CNPC are also successful in implementing joint cultural and sponsorship projects.

The Arts Festival of Gazprom and CNPC is among the most important cultural exchange projects. It is aimed at establishing closer ties between the two companies by developing intercultural communication and learning about traditions and customs of Russia and China.

The joint concert of the companies' talent groups was first held in China in April 2007. In subsequent years the winners of the Fakel Festival successfully performed in Beijing, Langfang, Xi'an, Dalian and Shanghai. The CNPC talent groups, in their turn, participated several times in the Fakel Festival in Gelendzhik and also performed in Vitebsk (Republic of Belarus).

This year the Arts Festival of Gazprom and CNPC took place in China in the city of Chengdu between September 9 and 12. The Festival brought together over 40 winners of the corporate Fakel Festival and talent groups of CNPC. The vocal and dancing master classes took place during the festival.

Fakel is a corporate festival among amateur talent groups and performers of Gazprom subsidiaries and entities.
