Gazprom and International Energy Agency: the 21st century will become the “Golden Age of Gas”

A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Maria van der Hoeven, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency took place today as part of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2012.

The situation in the global energy market and the development outlook for the oil and gas industry in the nearest future became the main focus of the meeting.

Alexey Miller and Maria van der Hoeven concurred with the view that the growing demand for natural gas as well as the physical and environmental features of that type of fuel allowed to speak with confidence that the 21st century would become the “Golden Age of Gas”.

Background

Established in Paris in 1974, the International Energy Agency (IEA) is an independent international body under the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), including 28 countries as its members. The main objective of the IEA is to promote the international cooperation in streamlining the global demand and supply of the energy resources and energy services.
