Gazprom’s delegation participates in 7th Russian Petroleum Congress

From 23 to 25 Moscow hosted the 7th Russian Petroleum Congress. Taking part in the Congress were high-ranking representatives from the Federal Assembly, ministries & agencies of the Russian Federation, the European Commission as well as foreign ambassadors in Russia and heads of prominent energy companies and industry organizations.
Stanislav Tsygankov, Head of the International Business Department, delivered a speech at the Congress plenary meeting entitled “Strategic Aspects of Gas Transportation, Processing and Export. Russian Gas and Global Energy Security”.
The speaker paid attention to different aspects of supply security under the conditions of the global economic downturn, detailed the reasons for the January transit crisis in Ukraine and the measures that need to be promptly adopted by all the interested parties, the European Union inclusive, in order to cardinally change the situation.
Stanislav Tsygankov also described the steps being taken by Gazprom to ensure the actual security of supplies including the construction of new gas pipelines and UGS system expansion that enables to respond to unexpected gas transit halts.
According to Stanislav Tsygankov, Gazprom was ready to further participate in securing the European energy safety. However, considering the uncertainty of the potential market development in Europe, the Company will follow the balanced multiple-vector policy aimed at prioritized protection of national interests and the national economic safety.
