Gazprom Zarubezhneftegaz is a Gazprom’s 100 per cent subsidiary.

The company acts as an operator of Gazprom’s foreign investment projects in the Middle and Near East, Latin America, South-Eastern Asia, Africa, as well as in CIS countries.

The main company’s activities include: offshore and onshore prospecting and exploration activities, field pre-development, gas transmission systems reconstruction, UGS capacities expansion, transportation and processing of hydrocarbons; engineering and construction of traffic arteries as well as oil and gas processing facilities.

Nowadays, the Company is implementing a number of foreign projects in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Vietnam, India and other countries.

The Agreement on Strategic Cooperation in the gas industry was entered into by NHC Uzbekneftegaz and Gazprom on December 17, 2002. In particular, the Agreement stipulates long-term purchases of the Uzbek gas for the period between 2003 and 2012, Gazprom’s participation in natural gas production projects under the Production Sharing Agreement terms, as well as cooperation in the Uzbek gas transmission infrastructure development and channeling Middle Asian gas via the Republic territory. Cooperation under the PSA terms to maintain gas extraction at the Shakhpakhty fields is a pilot gas production project. Said 0.5 bcmpa project opens ways towards implementing under the identical terms a larger gas exploration and production project in Uzbekistan’s Ustyurt region.

On February 5, 2005 Gazprom and Uztransgaz (sub-holding of NHC Uzbekneftegaz) signed a Mid-Term Agreement on natural gas transmission via the Republic of Uzbekistan over 2006 to 2010, pursuing the objective of transporting Middle Asian and, first of all, Turkmenian natural gas using the Central Asia-Centre (CAC) and Bukhara-Ural gas transmission systems running through the Republic of Uzbekistan.

On January 25, 2006 Gazprom and NHC Uzbekneftegaz entered into the Agreement on the major principles of geological survey for the Ustyurt region investment blocks in the Republic of Uzbekistan, following the consistent implementation of the project for the Ustyurt region’s fields development.
