On May 15–19, the 22nd international football tournament among the teams of care centers for orphaned children and boarding schools took place in St. Petersburg. The tournament was dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. The event was sponsored by the Victoria-Piter Sports Club Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization and the Dobrodushiye (Amiability) Charity Fund jointly with the Administration of the Kurortny District of St. Petersburg with assistance from the Football Federation of St. Petersburg and the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of St. Petersburg. Since 2015, Gazprom Transgaz Saint Petersburg has been providing support in holding the competitions.
This year, taking part in the competitions were as many as 12 teams from St. Petersburg, the Leningrad, Kursk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Orenburg, and Sverdlovsk Regions, the Republics of Buryatia and Bashkortostan, the Donetsk People's Republic, the Republic of Belarus, and the People's Republic of China.
At the opening ceremony for the tournament, the players were greeted by the Soviet and Russian opera singer Vasily Gerello who sang the hymn of the Russian Federation and the Victory Day song. During the event, the young football players have not only proved themselves on the playing field, but have also visited the historical and cultural sites of St. Petersburg and the football match at the Gazprom Arena stadium.

The Victoria-Piter Sports Club is a socially-oriented non-commercial organization from St. Petersburg focused on promoting sports among children under the care of social institutions, such as children's homes and boarding schools.
The club has organized 21 international children's football and futsal tournaments for orphaned children. Over the past years, St. Petersburg welcomed more than 262 teams and 3,000 children from 50 Russian regions and such foreign countries as Spain, Paraguay, Latvia, Belarus, Armenia, Ukraine, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and others.
Eventful cultural and entertainment program is a distinctive feature of all competitions organized by the club. The participants of the charity tournaments regularly visit the best museums and architectural monuments of St. Petersburg, take sightseeing tours and boat trips, and go to see significant sports competitions, such as the matches of FC Zenit and SKA Ice Hockey Club. Inter alia, the winners of the competitions visited the matches of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2021 European Championship as the main prize.
