News from projects and regions
On August 12–16, the “Pioneers of the Shelf” business simulation game designed for career guidance took place for the fifth time at the Okean National Children's Center. This session of the educational project, which had been launched by Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in November 2022, was held under the topic “Trying your Hand at the Profession.” In the course of the week, representatives of as many as five Sakhalin oil-and-gas enterprises currently engaged in advanced ongoing projects being implemented on the shelf were working with 60 boys and girls who came from all over Russia to take part in the activity.
The employees of Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, GPE Sakhalin, the Sakhalin Island subdivisions of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk, Gazprom Shelfproject, and the Shelf specialized branch of Gazprom Invest introduced the activity participants to the main aspects of the industry work peculiar to each enterprise and the tasks the enterprises address for the development of Russia's Far East.
The participants received comprehensive information on the key stages of offshore field infrastructure development. Together with the teachers, they went from the fundamentals of geology and geological exploration to the drilling and construction of difficult offshore wells, creation of subsea production infrastructure and onshore hydrocarbon treatment capacities, as well as the transmission of ready-made products to consumers. Each lecture was accompanied by a practical training activity aimed at the consolidation of the newly gained knowledge and skills.
In parallel, the team members were solving a technical case study jointly with a representative of a particular oil-and-gas profession as their supervisor. There were a total of nine case study projects for the participants to solve a given task: to establish technological communication between offshore field infrastructure and an onshore facility; to calculate the hydrate mode for the operation of an offshore gas gathering system; to develop a scenario for the effective elimination of an emergency; to create a model of a gas well in a reservoir; to provide a solution for supplying power to remote block valve stations; or to create a mockup of a drilling rig designed for heavy ice conditions.
“The business simulation game is further developing; we are introducing new formats into it. This year, the program was very intense and extensive: 20 hours in one week. We try to cover all of the key areas and share our experience. Since last year, we have been engaging the Far Eastern subsidiaries of Gazprom to participate in the work being carried out during the “Pioneers of the Shelf” business simulation game. This allows us to enrich the program, make it more comprehensive, and give the boys and girls from the Okean Children's Center a possibility to communicate directly with professionals of various specializations with their competencies and knowledge,” said Gennady Gavrilin, Deputy Director General for Corporate Security and Personnel Management at Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
The “Pioneers of the Shelf” business simulation games designed for career guidance have been taking place at the Okean National Children's Center since November 2022. During the two years of the project, five such games have been held, and over 600 young participants from 30 Russian regions have taken part in them. For each educational module, an individual educational program is developed depending on the topic of the session, the age of participants and the level of their training.
“The Gazprom subsidiaries have proven to be very high-quality and reliable partners for us. The program being implemented in our children's center is relevant, as we understand that Russia's natural resources are vast and the professions related to their extraction are in great demand. Two years ago, we signed the first cooperation agreement with Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and today, we gladly welcome the employees of both this company and other specialized enterprises. It is a unique possibility, and we see that the children are very interested and get sincerely involved in the activities,” said Natalia Seminyuda, Deputy Director for Development at the Okean National Children's Center.
