Sports and health center opens under Gazprom for Children program in Rostov Region

On January 20, the opening ceremony for a sports and health center built under the Gazprom for Children program took place in the Orlovsky settlement (Rostov Region).
Taking part in the event were Igor Sorokin, Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region, Yury Kharenko, Head of the Orlovsky District of the Rostov Region, and Vladimir Revenko, Director General of Gazprom Gazoraspredeleniye Rostov-on-Don and Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Rostov-on-Don.
Igor Sorokin thanked Gazprom for its active participation in developing the sports infrastructure of the Rostov Region. “Since 2007, as many as 79 public-access sports facilities have been built here in the Rostov Region under the Gazprom for Children program. I am convinced that our fruitful cooperation with regard to the construction of sports facilities will continue,” said Igor Sorokin.
The new sports center with a total area of over 6,600 square meters is equipped with a 25x16 meters swimming pool, a gym, an aerobics room, and two workout rooms. The sports and health center is designed to house training sessions in swimming, sports games, as well as gym workouts and various fitness sessions. The sports facility is accessible for people with limited mobility. It can accommodate a maximum of 2,200 people a day.
Background
The Gazprom for Children program is one of the key social projects of the Company aimed at creating a favorable environment for harmonious intellectual, cultural and physical development of children and youth, as well as attracting as many youngsters to sports and arts as possible.
Since 2007, over 2,000 modern sports facilities have been delivered under the program, including more than 200 sports and health centers. The program covers 74 Russian regions.
In the Rostov Region, a total of 79 sports facilities, including 74 multi-purpose sports grounds and five sports and health centers, have been built since 2007.
