Sports and health center opens under Gazprom for Children project in Tomarovka, Belgorod Region

On April 19, the opening ceremony for a sports and health center with a multi-purpose gym built under the Gazprom for Children project took place in the settlement of Tomarovka (Belgorod Region).

Taking part in the event were Vyacheslav Gladkov, Governor of the Belgorod Region, Natalia Zhigalova, Minister of Sports of the Belgorod Region, Oleg Medvedev, Head of the Yakovlevsky District of the Belgorod Region, and Nikolai Kuzmichev, representative of Gazprom's Fund for Supporting Social Initiatives.

The new sports center with an area of about 900 square meters has a multi-purpose gym, a number of shower rooms and a medical room. The facility is designed for such team sports as futsal, volleyball, badminton, and basketball. For playing the latter, the gym is provided with a modern retractable ceiling system conforming to the standards of international basketball associations. The sports and health center is accessible for people with limited mobility. It can accommodate 24 people per shift.

Background

The Gazprom for Children project is one of the Company's key social initiatives aimed at creating a favorable environment for harmonious intellectual, cultural and physical development of children and youth, as well as attracting as many youngsters to sports and arts as possible.

Since 2007, over 2,000 modern sports facilities have been built under the project, including more than 200 sports and health centers. The project covers 74 Russian regions.

In the Belgorod Region, a total of 42 sports facilities, including 31 outdoor facilities and 11 sports and health centers, have been delivered since 2008.
