On July 4–6, Moscow hosted the Canoe Marathon Masters European Cup. Sergey Orlov, employee of Gazprom Pererabotka, seized the silver and bronze at the Cup in the age category 35–44 years.

The European Cup brought together more than 300 athletes from 11 countries. It became the first canoe marathon of such high international level to be held in Russia. The prizes were awarded in various age categories across 21 programs: men's and women's single and double racing, as well as mixed-gender team racing.

Sergey Orlov, a master of sports from the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant (branch of Gazprom Pererabotka), competed as part of Russia's national team in single canoe and in double canoe with Maxim Kharunzhin. The overall length of the distances covered by the athletes during the two days of the competitions exceeded 30 kilometers.

“I'd never taken part in a competition like this before. The races were excellent: the organization and timing were precise, athletes were provided with accommodation and meals, and regular express tests were arranged. I'm very satisfied with the outcome. The pre-contest preparation was totally effective. I'd like to thank our team for their concerted efforts,” said Sergey Orlov.
