Gazprom Nedra releases new batches of fingerlings of valuable fish species
News from projects and regions
Gazprom Nedra continues taking mitigation measures for artificial replenishment of aquatic bioresources in the regions where it operates.
From July 15 to 18, young graylings were being released into the Bratsk Reservoir in the Irkutsk Region. More than 29,000 fingerlings from a nursery pond flowed down via special fishways into the Belaya River, from which they will pass into the Bratsk Reservoir.
On July 12, a batch of muksun fingerlings commissioned by Gazprom Nedra was released into the Ob River near the town of Labytnangi in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area. The muksun is an endangered species the fishing of which is prohibited.
Back in late June, peled fingerlings were released in the Mirninsky District of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Over 41,000 larvae were released into the Aann'aakh River, from which they flowed to the Akhtaranda River and further to the Vilyuiskoye Reservoir. Replenishment of commercial fish stocks in the reservoir is crucial for the population living off traditional farming.
Over the course of 2021, Gazprom Nedra plans to perform about 20 releases of juveniles of valuable commercial fish across Russia: muksun, chum salmon, grayling, peled, and Atlantic salmon. Before the end of the summer, about 90,000 fingerlings of the West Siberian subspecies of the Siberian sturgeon are going to be released into the rivers of the Ob-Irtysh fishing reservoir. The subspecies is listed in the Red Book of Russia.
