From December 31 to January 8, Irkutsk once again hosted concerts entitled Christmas Evenings with Denis Matsuev and Friends, with Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk as a long-standing partner.

Alongside Denis Matsuev, the Zagursky Music Theater in Irkutsk saw performances from principal dancers of Russia’s Bolshoi Theater who presented a new ballet set to the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Sergey Rachmaninoff, the Governor’s Symphony Orchestra of the Irkutsk Regional Philharmonic led by Ilmars Lapins, and Sergey Davydchenko (piano) and Matvey Blyumin (violin).
As part of the Christmas Evenings, the winners and contestants of the New Names of Priangarye 2018 Festival received musical instruments acquired using funds provided by Gazprom. The award ceremony took place on January 6 at the Denis Matsuev House of Music. The young musicians were presented with three pianos, a button accordion, a flute, and a saxophone.
The winners were determined based on recitals that took place in September 2018 in Irkutsk during the 13th Stars on Baikal International Classical Music Festival.
Background
Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, operates gas and gas condensate production and treatment facilities and acts as the design and construction customer for the pre-development of hydrocarbon fields in the Irkutsk Region, with Gazprom acting as the license holder.

In 2010, Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk and the Ministry of Culture and Archives of the Irkutsk Region signed the Agreement of Cooperation according to which the company would support traditional and new arts and cultural projects of great significance for the region.
Since 2011, Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk has been a long-standing partner of Stars on Baikal and Christmas Evenings.
The New Names of Priangarye Festival aims to identify gifted children in the Irkutsk Region. It was established and is organized by the Creativity Support and Development Center (Non-Profit Organization for Vocational Education) that officially represents the New Names Interregional Charity Foundation named after Ivetta Voronova (Moscow) in the Irkutsk Region.
