MMA fans can follow fights online via live webcast

On November 30 and December 1, Saratov hosted the All-Russian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Competition. The tournament took place at the Zvezdny sports and recreation center with financial and organizational support from Gazprom Transgaz Saratov. The event brought together some 100 athletes from the Chuvash Republic, the Republics of Bashkortostan, Dagestan, Mordovia and Tatarstan, as well as from Moscow, Penza, Samara, Togliatti, Ulyanovsk, Orenburg, Saratov, Balakovo and Volsk. The two-day competition was visited by about 1,000 residents and guests of Saratov.

The tournament’s official opening ceremony, which took place on the first day, was attended by Vladimir Mironov, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Saratov, Alexander Abrosimov, Minister of Sports and Youth Policy of the Saratov Region, Radmir Gabdullin, President of the Russian MMA Union, Datsi Datsiev, President of the Saratov MMA Federation, and the region’s top officials.

During the tournament, fighters were competing in the professional octagon – an octagon cage designed for mixed-style fights. MMA fans had the opportunity to follow the fights online via a live webcast.

Contestants from the Saratov Region became the winners of the competition in the team event, while the second place and the third place went to the athletes from the Republic of Dagestan and the Samara Region, respectively.

Gazprom Transgaz Saratov has been assisting the Saratov MMA Federation in organizing large-scale competitions for several years now.

As an expression of gratitude, Radmir Gabdullin presented an award to Vladimir Mironov for his great personal contribution to the promotion of mixed martial arts in the Russian Federation.

Background

Gazprom Transgaz Saratov, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, is responsible for natural gas transmission from Western Siberia, Central Asia, the Orenburg Region, and three UGS facilities located in the Saratov Region.
