News from projects and regions
On May 4–6, 2018, the Lastochka recreation center owned by a branch of Gazprom Transgaz Nizhny Novgorod hosted a competition in six sports for children who had survived oncological and hematological diseases.
It is the third time that the Nizhny Novgorod Oncology Research Center (NONTs), a foundation that provides assistance to children with cancer, held the regional round of the World Children’s Winners Games with support from Gazprom Transgaz Nizhny Novgorod, the competition’s general sponsor and partner.
The Winners Games brought together 115 children, aged 7 to 16, from across the Nizhny Novgorod Region. A team from the Vladimir Region also took part in the event for the first time. In the space of three days, children competed in such sports as track-and-field athletics (60-meter running), swimming (25-meter freestyle), table tennis, shooting (10-meter air rifle shooting), chess, and football. The competition was judged by official representatives of the respective sports federations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. More than 350 people in total attended the Winners Games at Lastochka.
After the regional round, the Nizhny Novgorod team will take part in the 9th World Children’s Winners Games in Moscow scheduled for August 2018 by the Podari Zhizn (Gift of Life) charity foundation.
