On June 18, the annual competition of environmental services among Gazprom’s subsidiaries was held. Based on the results of 2017, the environmental service of Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol emerged as the winner and Galina Fedchenko, the company’s Lead Environmental Engineer, was named best ecologist.
This year, environmental services of 36 subsidiaries of Gazprom took part in the corporate competition. The competition committee evaluated the contestants on several criteria: delivery of large-scale environmental projects and initiatives, results of audits by supervisory authorities, compliance with environmental legislation, and the functioning of the adopted environmental management system.
The environmental service of Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol is focused on facilitating safe and sustainable development of the gas transmission company based on the principles of natural resources management and environmental mitigation. Every year, the ecologists carry out hundreds of environmental events, arrange wide-reaching public awareness campaigns, and discuss pressing environmental issues at research and practical conferences, roundtables, and forums. In the last five years alone, the employees of Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol implemented about 2,400 environmental events, cleaned up and improved 815 hectares of land, and rehabilitated 46 springs and natural water sources. The efficiency of the company’s ecologists is recognized by non-governmental organizations, public authorities, environmental funds, and the media.
The environmental service of Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol is now a two-time winner of Gazprom’s corporate contest. The company won its first award based on the results of 2009.
