On August 18–19, a tourist convention for children and youth organized by the employees of Gazprom Transgaz Saratov took place in the Alexandrovo-Gaisky District of the Saratov Region. The event was supported by the district administration and brought together some 100 participants, including over 30 children from the Alye Parusa (Scarlet Sails) summer day camp for children from large and low-income families. The convention sought to promote tourism along with active and healthy lifestyles, to educate children and youth in environmental matters, to spark their interest in history and local lore, and to popularize the most in-demand professions in the gas industry.
The event’s program included local lore quests, sports games and relay races, and planting of greenery in a local recreation park.
In order to raise the profile of blue-collar jobs, the organizers arranged a visit to the facilities of the Aleksandrovogaiskoye Gas Pipeline Operation Center of Gazprom Transgaz Saratov.
At the end of the tourist convention, the top-performing young tourists received trophy cups and diplomas.
“It has become a tradition for our company to hold tourist conventions for children and youth before the school year begins. Every year, our tourist movement is joined by new districts and new participants, including children and teenagers from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as representatives of public organizations and social institutions,” said Leonid Chernoshchyokov, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Saratov.
“Making recreation for children both accessible and safe, sparking their curiosity, and teaching them something new is not only the mission of every single family, but also a social responsibility of society at large,” he added.
