On August 6, Evgeny Pashuk, Head of the Equipment and Structures Diagnostics Service at the Engineering Center of Gazprom Transgaz Makhachkala, climbed the western summit of Mount Elbrus (5,642 meters above sea level), the tallest mountain in Russia and Europe, with his son Alexander. The alpinists dedicated their achievement to Oil and Gas Industry Workers Day.
The ascent of Mount Elbrus started at 3 a.m. on August 6. The alpinists had chosen to climb the mountain all by themselves, setting out from the Dzhilysu meadow. Seven hours later, at 10 a.m., the summit was conquered.
Evgeny Pashuk is the only mountain climber in Dagestan holding the title of Snow Leopard, which is bestowed on those who have climbed all of the 7,000-meter peaks. In addition to ascending the northernmost 7,000-meter mountain, Victory Peak (Jengish Chokusu), two times, he has made 19 ascents in the mountains taller than 7,000 meters. The veteran gas worker has about 250 categorized climbs to his name.
Under the guidance of Evgeny Pashuk, teams of employees of Gazprom Transgaz Makhachkala climbed Mount Kazbek (5,033 meters above sea level) in 2014, dedicating their ascent to the company’s 35th anniversary, and the summit of Seldy (about 4,000 meters above sea level) in 2015, on the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
