Starts of Hopes skiing competition concludes in Krasnaya Polyana

On March 2–4, 2016, Gazprom's Mountain Tourist Center hosted the Krasnaya Polyana. Starts of Hopes (Starty Nadezhd) competition, the annual all-Russian children's skiing contest. This year, 90 young athletes from different Russian regions vied for the main prize.
Although the contestants were aged 8 to 11, the spectators' enthusiasm and the athletes' fighting spirit could rival those of adult competitions. The event, conducted at a professional level, was broadcast live for two days at the contest's official website.
After two days of slalom and giant slalom competitions, the leaders were announced. Sixteen participants took first place in their age groups. The list of winners and runners-up of the contest is available at the website.
The results of the team competition are as follows:
First place – Winter Sports School for Children and Youth, CSKA Moscow;
Second place – Russian Alpine Skiing School Stolitsa, Severnoye Butovo Skiing Sports Complex, Department of Physical Training and Sports of Moscow;
Third place – SNEJ.COM Academy (Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region).
Gazprom's Mountain Tourist Center has been organizing the Starts of Hopes competitions in Krasnaya Polyana for six years.
Background
Gazprom's Mountain Tourist Center is a year-round resort located in the Krasnaya Polyana settlement and the Esto-Sadok village (Adler District, Sochi). The Mountain Tourist Center includes the five-star Grand Hotel Polyana and the four-star Peak Hotel complexes, the four-star Polyana 1389 Hotel and Spa, the Laura skiing and biathlon complex, the Galaktika social and cultural center, a modern network of aerial railways and ski trails, as well as restaurants, cafes, swimming pools, sports fields, a medical center and other facilities.
The resort has a total area of 373 hectares. Its hotels can accommodate a combined total of about 2,000 people at the same time.
