The final Canadian hockey men’s teams game of the II Open Championship of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy took place on March 13, 2015 at the ice rink of the Fakel Sports Center. This year the II Open Championship was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
During three months seven teams were fighting for the Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy Cup. The strongest teams of the tournament – Fakel (Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy) and Novator (Novatek) met in the finals. After a hot contestNovator hockey players won the game, scoring 3–5.
After this final game ended, Sergey Mazanov, Director General of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy, President of the Yamal Hockey League, presented the participating teams with cups and diplomas during the medal awarding ceremony.
Based on the results of 42 games (without accounting for play-offs) the teams participating in the II Open Canadian Hockey Championship of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy took the following positions: the Novator team – the gold medal, the Fakel team – the silver medal, and the team of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy Corporate Security Department won the bronze medal.
Background
Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Gazprom. Its core business is production of natural gas, gas condensate and oil, treatment of hydrocarbons and build-up of the feedstock base.
