Gazprom Transgaz Samara basketball players – silver winners of Volga Region Championship

From May 23 to 25 Samara hosted the Volga Federal District Basketball Championship among men’s amateur teams. Taking part in the competitions were sportsmen from Samara, Tolyatti, Saratov, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Kirov, Almetyevsk. Not only did the Gazprom Transgaz Samara basketball team defend the company’s honor, but also represented the Samara Region as the winner of the regional competitions.
Scoring two victories, the Gazprom Transgaz Samara team reached the finals, where the Samara natives faced the basketball players from Kazan. The match ended by a score of 51:46 for Kazan. The gas workers became the silver winners of the Volga Federal District Basketball Championship of the Interregional Amateur Basketball League. Vyacheslav Gordeev, player of the Samara team was awarded an individual prize as the best center of the Championship.
Background
Gazprom Transgaz Samara is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom focused on natural gas transmission through seven Russian regions: the Samara, Ulyanovsk, Orenburg (locally), Penza and Saratov Regions as well as the Republics of Mordovia and Tatarstan.
