Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk supports and takes part in 15th International Ski Marathon

Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk hosted the 15th International Ski Marathon in tribute to Igor Farkhutdinov, former Governor of the Sakhalin Region. Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk was the general sponsor of the event for the second year in a row.
About three hundred people participated in the marathon: ski lovers from the Sakhalin Island, the Far East and other Russian regions covered the distance of 30 kilometers.
Taking part in the opening ceremony of the sports celebration were Konstantin Stroganov, First Deputy Governor of the Sakhalin Region and Valery Shakhov, Director of the Sakhalin branch of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk.
“After the Olympics in Sochi being victorious for Russia the surge of incredible sports thrill overwhelmed the country and reached Sakhalin. Today people of different ages and sports skills hit the ski track. I wish everyone luck and quick seconds and may the best win!” Konstantin Stroganov addressed the marathon participants.
Valery Shakhov stressed that supporting sports and promoting a healthy lifestyle were the priority areas of the Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk activities.
“For gas workers sport is not an entertainment, it is the opportunity to display their best qualities – the will to win, emulative spirit and fair competition,” noted Valery Shakhov. “That’s what we should be like both in sports and our everyday life.”
Following the results of the marathon, Alexander Yablochnikov, employee of the Sakhalin branch of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk entered the top five.
Rooters from all the subsidiaries of Gazprom Group in the region also came to support their workmates.
The participants who won medal places were awarded money certificates and valuable gifts from Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk.
Background
The marathon annually held in the Sakhalin Region attracts great public attention. Igor Farkhutdinov, Governor of the Sakhalin Region who participated in the marathon eight times (from 1996 to 2003) made a large contribution to organizing the ski marathon.
The Sakhalin Line Pipe Operation Center of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk was established in 2008. The employees of the Center service the Sakhalin – Khabarovsk – Vladivostok gas trunkline and gas supply facilities of the Sakhalin Region: the Sakhalin main compressor station and the Dalneye gas distribution station. The Sakhalin branch of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk also operates the trans-Sakhalin gas pipeline system of Sakhalin Energy.
