On November 15, 2013 the opening ceremony of a new sports stadium took place at the premises of the Volgograd Man’s Pedagogical Lyceum in the Traktorozavodsky district of Volgograd.
Gazprom Transgaz Volgograd built the sports facility as part of the targeted Gazprom for Children program. In 2011 Viktor Zubkov Chairman of the Gazprom Board of Directors gave the go-ahead to start the construction.
The multi-purpose stadium is designed for training sessions and competitions in football, athletics, basketball, volleyball and other outdoor games to be held locally. A total area exceeds 4,000 square meters and a running track is 350 meters long.
The opening ceremony was attended by Gasan Nabiev, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Volgograd, Vladimir Efimov, Chairman of the Volgograd Region Duma, Sergey Popkov, Sports and Tourism Minister of the Volgograd Region, Alexander Korotkov, Education and Science Minister of the Volgograd Region and Fyodor Slipchenko, Head of the Volgograd Lyceum state budgetary educational institution, People's Teacher of the USSR and Honorary Citizen of the hero-city of Volgograd.
During the opening ceremony Gasan Nabiev stated, “Thanks to Gazprom for Children program, we were able to give this gift to the kids. The program is targeted at bringing up a smart, healthy generation of Russian youngsters who are proud to live in this country.”
The completion of the stadium became the first step in building up a year-round sports facility which will also include a fitness center. Its doors will open to students and teachers of the Volgograd Man’s Pedagogical Lyceum in 2014.
Background
Gazprom Transgaz Volgograd is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom focused on natural gas transmission to the Volgograd, Rostov and Voronezh Regions and the Republic of Kalmykia. The company also deals with natural gas supply to the central parts of Russia and its export to Europe.
Gazprom Transgaz Volgograd operates 7.5 thousand kilometers of gas mains, 230 gas distribution stations and 10 CNG filling stations. Gas transmission is secured by 13 compressor stations equipped with 186 gas compressor units having an aggregate capacity of 1 million 725 thousand KW.
The following gas pipelines run within the company’s operating area: Central Asia – Center Soyuz, Orenburg – Novopskov, Petrovsk – Novopskov, Urengoy – Novopskov, Pochinki – Izobilnoye – Severo-Stavropolskoye UGS facility.
Gazprom Transgaz Volgograd introduced the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system and the ISO 14001:2004 environmental management system. The company employs some 5 thousand people.
