Today in Sochi Gazprom Sotsinvest experts planted 100 seedlings of rare trees, including several dozens of oriental wild apple (Malus orientalis) and wild cherry (Prunus avium) seedlings.
This event falls within the Year of Ecology in Gazprom and its comprehensive program of environmental measures taken during the Olympic facilities construction in Sochi.
“Starting from 2010, Gazprom has been implementing the environmental protection program that includes measures on replanting trees and relocating animals from construction sites, planting rare trees seedlings and preserving wild animals’ habitats. We’ve already surpassed the environmental protection plans that we initially set. In 2013 we are planning to hit the target of several dozens of thousands planted trees,” said Matvey Geller, Head of the External Relations Directorate of Gazprom Sotsinvest.
