Prior to Victory Day two children’s and youth tournaments took place in Orenburg. The sports events were dedicated to veterans of the national gas industry, former heads of Orenburggazprom: a football competition was held in memory of Vasily Nikolaev and a judo competition – Yury Vysheslavtsev, Hero of Socialist Labor. Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg organized the tournaments.
The Fakel stadium hosted matches between 12 sports teams from the Orenburg and Samara Oblasts, Bashkortostan and Kazakhstan.
Young judo sportsmen from 12 towns of the Volga region, Urals, Kazakhstan, Bashkortostan, Orenburg and the Orenburg Oblast strove for the winning places in the Gazovik community center.
Two events teamed up more than 400 sportsmen.

Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom. The company is primarily focused on hydrocarbons production, processing and transmission.
Yury Vysheslavtsev is the Hero of Socialist Labor. He was in charge of Orenburggazprom between 1974 and 1986.
Vasily Nikolaev was engaged into the Orenburg gas industry for 26 years. From 1989 to June 2002 (when he became retired) he was in charge of Orenburggazprom.
Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg acts as an initiator, promoter and general sponsor of numerous children’s and youth competitions, including three tournaments for the Heroes of Socialist Labor prizes as well as sports competitions in memory of former gas and chemical industry workers who made a significant contribution towards the gas sector growth.
