Test runs were carried out today at the Adler TPP. The first gas turbine unit (GTU-1) produced electricity. The unit reached the design capacity of 65 MW during the tests.
“Successful tests of the first gas turbine unit allow us moving over to the final stage of the Adler TPP construction – comprehensive pre-commissioning of the power generating equipment,” said Alexander Fedorusenko, First Deputy Director General of Gazprom Investproject.
Background
Adler TPP was included in the Program for the Construction of Olympic Venues and the Development of Sochi as a Mountain Climate Resort. Adler TPP will be a key power generating facility in Sochi and adjacent areas.
The Adler TPP power output is 360 MW, heat output – 227 Gcal/h. The station capacities allow covering over one-third of the projected peak loads in the Sochi power district during the Winter Olympic Games 2014, provide power and heat to the sports, transport and tourist facilities as well as households located nearby.
Gazprom acts as the Adler TPP project owner, Gazprom Investproject – as the investor and Mosenergo – as the general contractor.
