New sports and recreation complex built in Valdai

The Valdai city hosted today a festive opening of the Kristall sports and recreation complex built at the expense of Gazprom Transgaz Saint Petersburg as part of the Gazprom for Children program.
Taking part in the event were Arnold Shalmuev, Deputy Head of the Novgorod Oblast Administration, Vladimir Danilov, Head of the Valdai Municipal District as well as representatives from Gazprom Transgaz Saint Petersburg: Alexey Gaiduk, Deputy Director General for Corporate Affairs, Nikolai Ilyin, Deputy Director General for Corporate Development and Asset Management, and Andrey Khramov, Deputy Director General for Overhaul and Capital Construction.
Kristall is the fifth sports facility built by Gazprom Transgaz Saint Petersburg over the last three years. The previously opened complexes are already operational in Volkhov, Torzhok, Pikalevo and Rzhev. According to Alexey Gaiduk, “Promoting children’s sports in Russian regions is a prioritized area of the company’s social policy”.
The Kristall sports and recreation complex contains an ice area with stands accommodating 326 spectators. It also has a cutting-edge weight room and a fitness room. A skills training room has been set up to train young hockey players. The facility covers the total space of 3,480 square meters.
Andrey Khramov noted that “any visitor can have a try in sports and reinforce one’s health, while sportsmen will have extra opportunities for training and improving their achievements”.

Gazprom Transgaz Saint Petersburg is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom in Northwestern Russia. It is focused on natural gas transmission.
The Gazprom for Children program is a nationwide project. It encompasses 72 regions of Russia. 40 subsidiary companies and organizations of Gazprom as well as regional gas branches of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz are engaged in the program.
By now, 659 sports facilities have been built and retrofitted as part of the Gazprom for Children program. They include recreation centers, stadiums, football fields, swimming pools, playgrounds and children’s recreation camps. More than 90 thousand people can exercise and train at these facilities every day.
