The capital of the Czech Republic hosted the European Karate Cup in the beginning of April. Ivan Kiryanov, member of the Russian national team from Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol Shotokan Club became the winner in the team tournaments. The sportsman had a clear lead and won every fight bringing the national team on top – as a result, the Russian team took the first place.

Following the success in the team fights of the European tournament, Ivan Kiryanov managed to show high standards and become a Master of Sport of International Level.

Background

Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom. The company maintains the line pipes passing through 10 Russian constituents and conveying some 70 billion cubic meters of gas per year. The gas pipelines length exceeds 7,900 kilometers.

Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol Shotokan Club was founded in 1998. Viktor Mashchenko, Senior Coach of the Russian National Shotokan Karate-Do Team is a constant leader of the club.
