The Nyuksenitsa settlement, Vologda Oblast hosted a festive opening of a new sports and recreation complex sponsored by Gazprom. Taking part in the opening ceremony were Nikolai Kostygov, First Vice Governor of the Vologda Oblast and Anatoly Zakharov, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta.

Sports and recreation complex is a universal sports venue with a swimming pool, training, basketball and tennis halls. The total value of the complex equals RUB 215 million. The total area of the building exceeds 3,500 square meters. The complex can accommodate 184 visitors at the same time.

During solemn opening of sports and recreation complex

“Being a socially responsible company, Gazprom implements a large-scale program for development and support of children’s sports in Russia. I am talking about the Gazprom for Children program, enhancing the construction of some hundred of big and small sports venues throughout the country. Today I can suppose that three years later during the Olympic Games in Sochi we see sports records born here in the Nyuksenitsa settlement! Anyway I wish sincerely that this dream will come true!” addressing the settlement inhabitants, said Anatoly Zakharov.

New sports and recreation complex in Nyuksenitsa settlement, Vologda Oblast

Background

Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom. The core business activity of the company is natural gas transmission via gas mains.

The length of Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta gas mains exceeds over 11,000 kilometers (single-string design). Through the company’s gas mains natural gas is conveyed to the distant regions of the Russia and used by large industrial entities, settlements and towns located along the route in Northwestern Russia and distributed to the Moscow circular road, to Saint Petersburg as well as to the Baltic states, Eastern Europe, Finland and Germany.

The construction of the complex in the Nyuksenitsa settlement was implemented due to Gazprom’s investments in the Volgograd Oblast social sector. From 2010 to 2011 Gazprom allocated RUB 790 million for the Vologda Oblast social and utility facilities construction.
