On March 5 and 6 Moscow hosted the Russian Shotokan Karate-Do Championship. Fighters from the Gazprom transgaz Stavropol Shotokan Club defeated the competitors from 40 Russian regions. At the Championship the company’s sportsmen occupied the whole winners’ podium like in the previous year. Ivan Kiryanov became the Russian champion, the silver was given to Evgeny Chentsov, and Sergey Umrikhin won the bronze medal. Besides, the club fighters won gold medals in team competitions.
In the national competition among sportsmen under 18 years of age the karate fighters from the Gazprom transgaz Stavropol Shotokan Club became winners in three categories. In the individual competition the gold medals were given to Vladislav Ivanov, Sergey Maschenko and Evgeny Molchanov. In the team competitions the awards were given to Vladislav Ivanov, Kazbek Mutaliyev, Ruslan Kostikov and Mikhail Shishuk.
The national team to take part in the European and world championships will be shaped on the basis of the competitions held.
