From February 1 to March 1, 2011 Gazprom dobycha Orenburg in cooperation with educational authorities of the Orenburg and Perevolotsk Districts (Orenburg Oblast) held the Star Way children's competition dedicated to the Year of Cosmonautics in Russia.

In order to take part in the event, children from regional schools, lyceums, gymnasiums and supplementary educational institutions fulfilled specific creative tasks such as essays, paintings and drawings, artistic and ornamental works.

Taking part in the competitions were 28 educational institutions. A total of 320 works were prepared in all nominations.

Evaluation was made both among individual artists and among the schools that submitted reports on the work done. The first-place winners in the relevant nominations obtained vouchers for a summer vacation in Anapa, the Black Sea resort. Those who took the second place will visit Samorodovo, the best children's recreation camp in the Orenburg Oblast. The third-place winners will be honorable guests of the Warmth of Children's Hearts festival. The winning schools were awarded with valuable gifts. A total of 41 prizes were given to the competitors.

The awarding ceremony, which took place on the eve of the International Women's Day was attended by Alexander Soluyanov, Hero of the Soviet Union, Air Force Major General, Vice President of the Russian Association of the USSR Heroes as well as by cosmonaut Yury Romanenko, Twice Hero of the Soviet Union.

Gazprom dobycha Orenburg is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom. The company's major activities are hydrocarbon feedstock production, treatment and transmission. The company takes part in the Gazprom to Children program in the Orenburg Oblast.
