On February 7 Tomsk hosted the zonal round (Northern zone) of the IV corporate Fakel Festival ('fakel' is translated from Russian as 'flare') for amateur and creative teams and artists from Gazprom subsidiaries. The grand opening of the Festival took place in the Bolshoy Concert Hall of Tomsk Oblast State Philharmonic Orchestra.

Over 1,000 participants and guests of the Fakel Festival saw the grand opening ceremony. Creative teams and artists from Siberia and the Far East appeared on the stage of the Philharmonic Orchestra. The idea of the enchanting opening consisted in the emergence of a new star in the Fakel constellation. Alexey Kortnev – Russian poet, musician, actor and lead singer of the Nestchastny Sluchay band – acted as the show presenter.

The Gazprom Management Committee Chairman in his welcome address noted that the Company acted as a socioeconomic catalyst for the country's regions development and presented them with the best corporate traditions.

The chairman of the festival jury, Svyatoslav Belza – People's Artist of Russia and Academician of the Russian TVAcademy – also congratulated the Fakel participants and guests in his welcome speech.

Vitaly Markelov, Director General of Gazprom transgaz Tomsk wished all the best to the corporate Festival. He noted that it was the first time Tomsk hosted such a significant event and gas workers would do their best to keep the good memory of the Festival in every participant's soul.

Background

The Fakel Festival gathered over 1,000 competitors from 16 Gazprom subsidiaries.

The competition grasps three ages (from 5 to 10, from 11 to 16 and above 17 years old).

The participants compete in the following nominations: vocal (folk, pop, classic and jazz), choreography (folk, pop, ballroom, classic), pop and instrumental groups, pop & circus, magic and folk.
