On April 23, 2011 the Olympus stadium in the Kanevskaya village hosted the second senior and junior Spartakiada Games of Gazprom dobycha Krasnodar. Some 300 competitors took part in the sports event.
The Spartakiada Games were opened with a parade of athletes representing the teams from all of the company’s branches located in five regions of the Russian Federation. Alexander Nechaev, Deputy Director General of Gazprom dobycha Krasnodar and Viktor Tereshenko, Deputy Head of the Kanevskoy District Administration gave a welcome speech to the participants.
Track-and-field and weightlifting competitions were held among the company’s employees (100, 500 and 1,000 meter sprints, 4x100 meter relay race, long jumps, kettlebell lifting, shot-put). Similar track-and-field and weightlifting competitions with lower physical loads were held among juniors (60, 200, 600 meter sprints, long jumps, ballthrowing). The Spartakiada Games ended with children’s relay race.
“The Spartakiada Games of Gazprom dobycha Krasnodar have been hosted by the Kanevskaya village for the second time. Nevertheless, the sports event has already become a spotlight in local life. It is encouraging to see that the employees’ children take an active part in the competitions. Holding the junior Spartakiada Games is another step towards implementing the target-oriented Gazprom to Children program being a success in Kuban and throughout Russia,” noted Mikhail Geikhman, Director General of Gazprom dobycha Krasnodar.

The Spartakiada Games of Gazprom dobycha Krasnodar are annually held among the company’s employees and their children. The program comprises volleyball, basketball, futsal, track-and-field athletics, weightlifting and other sports. According to the results of the competitions, the delegations are formed to represent Gazprom dobycha Krasnodar at the senior and junior Spartakiada Games among the subsidiary and affiliated companies of Gazprom. The Spartakiada Games of Gazprom dobycha Krasnodar are aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, good physical and moral characters of the employees and their children; sharing athletic and popular sports experience among the company’s branches; promoting popular sports, physical training and health activities.
